Trolly is a spot on the east coast of Attica, north of Rafina. The beach faces NE/E, directly toward the Aegean Sea, receiving the N/NNE Meltemi as side-onshore. It's an alternative to Schinias for riders looking for similar conditions with fewer crowds.
Close to Rafina port (departure point for ferries to the Cyclades and Evia), the spot is easily accessible from Athens and offers reliable Meltemi conditions in summer.
The spot works from May to September with the Meltemi. Sessions from late morning to sunset. Less crowded than Schinias, offering more space. The water is a bit deeper and less protected than Marathon Bay — slightly more committed conditions.
More open water than Marathon Bay. In Meltemi, chop of 30-60cm with possible waves in strong wind. Sandy and rocky bottom in places. Clear water. Less progressive depth than Schinias. Temperature: 22-26°C in summer.
Intermediate
Open all year round
Limited parking along the coastal road. Less organized area than Schinias. Some informal parking spaces near the beach. Rafina is a few minutes drive away with all services (restaurants, supermarkets, hotels). From Athens, about 40 min via Attiki Odos.
Submerged rocks in places — check the bottom before sailing. Coastal currents in strong Meltemi. Maritime traffic (proximity to Rafina port). In strong Meltemi (>25 knots), committed conditions. Less lifeguard coverage and infrastructure than Schinias.
The N/NNE Meltemi arrives side-onshore to onshore on this NE/E-facing coast. Conditions similar to Schinias but with slightly different fetch. Typical strength: 12-22 knots in summer, with stronger gusts during pronounced Meltemi episodes. Wind is reinforced by the thermal in the afternoon.
