Molos is a spot on Skyros's northeast coast, in the low, flat part of the island. Unlike Kalamitsa to the south, Molos receives the Meltemi (N/NNE) onshore, making it Skyros's best summer kite spot. The northern part of the island is flat, allowing the Meltemi to arrive without major turbulence.
Rideable May to September with the Meltemi. Launch from the sandy beach. More moderate conditions than the Cyclades. No dedicated kite center.
Open all year round
Intermediate
Semi-sheltered water. Moderate chop, 0.5-1m waves. Sandy bottom. Warm, clear water.
Parking in Molos, paved road from Skyros town. Parking near the beach.
The Meltemi (N/NNE) arrives onshore to side-onshore. The northern part being flat, wind is steady without turbulence. 15-22 knots in summer. Mountains in the south don't disturb wind on the north coast.
Isolated island, limited rescue. Ride with company. In strong Meltemi, challenging chop. Fishing boats in the bay.
