Amiti is a bay on the north coast of Naxos, directly exposed to the Meltemi. This north-facing position makes it one of the spots most directly impacted by the Aegean Etesian wind. The bay offers a riding area with the N/NNE Meltemi directly onshore, creating chop and small wave conditions. Amiti is a lesser-known and uncrowded spot, suited to intermediate riders seeking onshore conditions in a quiet setting. Access is more difficult than the west coast spots.
Amiti works with direct onshore N/NNE Meltemi. The riding area is choppy with short waves. The bay offers a decent sailing space. No kite center — self-sufficient spot. Onshore wind ensures safety: it always pushes back to the beach. Works from June to September.
Open all year round
Intermediate
Aegean Sea north coast, 21-25°C in summer (slightly cooler than south coast). 2mm shorty recommended. Sand/rock bottom. Short powerful chop in strong Meltemi. Current possible in the bay.
Limited parking by the track. Access via secondary roads from northern Naxos. Partly unpaved road. No infrastructure on site. Car essential.
Amiti receives the N/NNE Meltemi fully onshore on its north coast. This is the most direct wind exposure on Naxos. Typical strength of 18-28 knots in summer, without attenuation or channeling — wind arrives with full fetch from the northern Cyclades. Chop is short and powerful due to the direct fetch. Season from June to September, very reliable.
Meltemi can exceed 28 knots direct onshore. Short powerful chop tiring for riders. Isolated spot — sail with a partner. Rocks in some bay areas. Little rescue available. Strong sun exposure.
