Plomari is a spot on the south coast of Lesvos, facing the open Aegean Sea. This spot is for advanced riders only because the Meltemi (N/NNE), the dominant summer wind, blows OFFSHORE on this south coast, pushing out to sea. The spot only works in southerly winds (SE to SW), more frequent in spring and autumn. Plomari is known for its ouzo and beaches, but kiting conditions are demanding.
Riding only in southerly wind — mainly spring and autumn. In summer, the Meltemi dominates and the spot is unusable (offshore). Launch from Plomari's sandy beaches. Wave conditions in S wind with open fetch. Advanced spot with no school or specialized water sports center.
Open water facing south with possible swell. Waves 1-2m in sustained S wind. Sandy and pebbly bottom. The southerly fetch is unlimited, generating significant waves in strong wind. Clear and warm water in summer.

Open all year round
Parking in Plomari town and along the surrounding beaches. Paved access. Free parking in public car parks.
MAJOR DANGER: the Meltemi (N/NNE) creates offshore wind pushing out to sea — certain death without rescue. NEVER ride in northerly wind. Significant swell in southerly wind. Coastal currents. Isolated spot, no specialized rescue. Ride only with company, with communication equipment and VHF. Check forecasts before every session.
WARNING: the Meltemi (N/NNE) is OFFSHORE on the south coast — it pushes out into the open Aegean, with no land to the south for hundreds of kilometers. Riding PROHIBITED in Meltemi. The spot works in southerly winds: SE (side-onshore from the left), S/SSE/SSW (onshore), SW/WSW (side-onshore from the right). These winds are associated with weather systems and are more frequent in spring and autumn. When southerly wind blows, it can reach 15-25 knots with swell.
