Lechaio is a spot on the south shore of the Gulf of Corinth, in close proximity to the ancient city of Corinth. Facing north, this spot benefits from the channeled wind regime in the gulf, with the Vardaris (E/NE) as the main summer wind. The position in the eastern part of the gulf offers a long fetch for the Vardaris that accelerates through the corridor. Former port city of ancient Corinth, Lechaio combines history and sailing conditions in a unique setting.
Launch from the north-facing beach, mix of sand and pebbles. In Vardaris (E/NE), the wind is side-shore from the right — parallel riding along the shore with good tacking conditions. In northerly wind, classic onshore conditions. Open sailing area on the gulf with 10-15 km fetch to the north. The enclosed gulf offers flatter conditions than in open sea.
Short and moderate chop channeled through the gulf. The limited north-south fetch (10-15 km) prevents large wave development. In strong Vardaris, more pronounced chop in the east-west axis. Relatively flat water, excellent for foiling and wingfoiling. No ocean swell.

Access from Corinth via the road leading to the ancient port of Lechaio. Parking available along the coastal road or in areas near the beach. Archaeological zone nearby — respect the marked areas.
Relatively safe spot. Some rocks and submerged archaeological remains near the ancient port — stay vigilant near the shoreline. Maritime traffic in the gulf — stay in the coastal zone. In very strong Vardaris, the channeled chop can become powerful. No beach lifeguard.
The Vardaris (E/ENE) is the dominant wind, channeled through the long east-west Gulf of Corinth corridor. At Lechaio, in the eastern part of the gulf, the Vardaris has travelled the entire corridor and reaches full power, offering steady and sustained wind. North/northwesterly winds cross the gulf to arrive onshore. The Ponentes (W/WNW) arrives from the western end of the gulf, often weaker in this eastern part. Reliable afternoon thermals in summer, reinforcing the Vardaris.
