Pefki is a spot at the northern tip of Evia island, at the exit of the North Euboean Gulf. This popular beach resort among Athenians offers good kitesurfing conditions thanks to its position exposed to north and NW winds exiting the gulf.
The northern tip of Evia marks the transition between the protected North Euboean Gulf channel and the more open waters of the Pagasetic Gulf and the Aegean Sea. Wind is reliable in summer with the Meltemi arriving directly from N/NNE or channeled as NW from the gulf.
Best season from June to September with the Meltemi. The spot works with multiple wind directions (N, NNE, NE, NW, NNW), offering great versatility. Conditions are generally good from noon when thermals kick in. Water state varies from flat (in light wind) to choppy (in strong Meltemi).

The water is more open than inside the gulf, with greater fetch to the north. In moderate Meltemi, chop of 30-50cm. In strong Meltemi, waves of 0.5-1m possible. Sandy bottom with pebble areas. Progressive depth. Clear, warm water in summer.
Pefki is a beach resort with tourist infrastructure. Parking along the coastal road and village streets. In high season (July-August), parking can be limited as Pefki is a popular destination for Athenian holidaymakers. Arrive early morning for the best spots.
Dual wind exposure: direct Meltemi from N/NNE and channeled NW wind exiting the North Euboean Gulf. This convergence creates reliable and often stronger-than-average conditions. Wind typically shifts from NW in the morning (channel exit) to NNE in the afternoon (Meltemi reinforced by thermals).
Typical strength: 12-22 knots in summer, with gusts to 25+ knots in strong Meltemi.
Currents at the northern tip of the island, especially in strong wind. Maritime traffic at the exit of the North Euboean Gulf. Rocks at some beach extremities. In summer, many swimmers — respect bathing zones. In strong Meltemi (>25 knots), conditions become demanding with significant chop.
