Sarakiniko is one of two kitesurf spots on Elafonisos island, off the southeast tip of the Peloponnese. This small island is famous for its white sand beaches and turquoise Caribbean-like waters. The spot benefits from westerly to northwesterly winds blowing through the strait between the Peloponnese and Crete. It's a flat water spot ideal when NW/W wind blows side-onshore.
Rideable May to September with NW/W winds. Launch from the white sand beach. Flat to moderately choppy water. No kite center on the island — autonomous riders. The island is a natural gem, very busy in summer. Limited accommodation — book in advance.
Flat to slightly choppy water thanks to limited fetch in the strait. White sand bottom, shallow turquoise water. One of the most beautiful sailing settings in Greece. Warm water (24-26°C in summer).

Elafonisos is at the transition between Ionian (NW Maestro) and Aegean (N/NNE Meltemi) wind patterns. The dominant summer wind is from NW/W/WNW, arriving side-onshore to onshore on the island's south/west coast. Wind channels between the Peloponnese and Crete, reaching 15-22 knots. In N wind, it's side-shore. The strait creates flat water conditions thanks to limited fetch.
