Overview

Beautiful sandy beach. I set up next to the lifeguard tower as it was closer to my accommodation, but a bit further west on the beach there is a kitesurfing club (after the Wibit structure). Just avoid ending up in the boat zone or the swimming area. Not many kites here. Check out Chalikounas beach for more space and another kite school.

Spot functioning

Rideable from May to September with the thermal wind. The spot faces west, with Maestro wind (NW/W) arriving side-onshore. Launch from the sandy beach. The dunes provide shelter for rigging but beware of turbulence during launch. No kite school directly on site — schools are at Chalikounas to the north.

On the water

Open water with shore break waves in the first meters, then chop further out. Sandy bottom with moderate slope. Waves are generally 0.5-1.5m, larger in strong Maestro. More challenging conditions than Chalikounas, with more current.

Wind specificities

Thermal wind in summer 10-12 knots. Weather wind announced by weather programs. Over 10 days, always thermal wind from around 2pm to 6pm and 2 days of stronger weather wind, up to 20 knots in gusts. At Issos beach, the wind passes over the dune so it can be very gusty depending on whether it's oriented very north. For a beginner, it's probably better to go to Chalikounas beach.
