Plage Est of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer — capital of the Camargue. World-renowned for its speed conditions and the "French Trench", a speed channel where numerous records have been broken.
Immense fine sand beach extending from Beauduc, bordered on one side by the Mediterranean and on the other by numerous lagoons. Vast space for safe kite training — but you need to walk a bit to reach the water's edge.
The speed channel is visible from the large sandy car park. In Mistral N/NW, legendary speed conditions with ultra-flat water along the coast. If the wind shifts from S to N, you can ride waves for kilometres in offshore wind — memorable sessions!
Small charming town halfway between Beauduc and Le Grau-du-Roi.
Access: arrive at the village of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, facing the sea go left towards Thalass/Camping de la Brise. Pass the motorhome area, then the seawall, continue 500 m. Parking on the sand.
Kite tolerated zone from the speed channel eastwards. Kite forbidden on the rest of the municipality.
In summer: paid access (a few euros). Practise outside swimming zones.
Height barrier limited to 1.90 m.
