Kitesurf, wingfoil and windsurf spot on the Rhine flood reservoir at Plobsheim (67), located 15 km south of Strasbourg. The only kitesurf spot in Bas-Rhin, on a wide artificial basin forming a dead arm of the Rhine. Flat water with 2 m depth near shore. The Rhinland nautical base (south-west end) and the concrete dyke (north-east end) are the two launch zones. Community group: elsasskiting.net

North-East is the prime direction — steady and strong when the regional "bise" is established. South to South-West also works from the Rhinland base but tends to be gustier. West is prohibited. The Windfinder Entzheim station is a reliable forecast reference for North-East sessions.
Spot strongly discouraged for beginners. North-East launch is from a concrete dyke — very technical, requires two helpers for kite assistance. West wind is prohibited: risk of being swept to the opposite dyke with no easy return (10 km on foot). In summer, heavy algae growth — use an algae-resistant fin. Respect other water users and the 60 m rigging limit on either side of the launch stairs.
