Ghisonaccia is a kitesurf spot on the plaine orientale, the long east coast of Corsica — one of the island's most wild and unspoiled stretches. The beach is lined with pine trees, with fine white sand and an almost untouched natural setting.
A quiet spot ideal for riding without crowds. Shallow water near the shoreline makes it suitable for intermediate riders looking for flat water or small chop. The area is known for its wild beaches near the Urbino and Diana lagoons.
⚠️ Note: Ghisonaccia beach has been subject to significant coastal erosion in recent years, with notable shoreline retreat. Check access conditions before visiting.
Best months are June, July and August, with regular thermal winds and over 450 kiteable hours per month.

Open all year round
Access via the D144 (Route des Plages) from Ghisonaccia. Parking available at the beach. For the wilder beaches to the north towards Urbino lagoon, take the D444, a semi-paved track, to the parking area at the Pinia protected domain.
Offshore wind: West and north-west winds are fully offshore on this east-facing spot. Do not ride in these conditions.
Currents: Currents may be present, especially near the inlets of the Urbino and Diana lagoons. Check locally.
Shorebreak: In east swell conditions, shorebreak can make water entry and exit difficult.
Coastal erosion: The beach is shrinking noticeably — access points may change from season to season.
The spot works primarily on two wind directions: North-East and South-East. NE corresponds to the Gregale, regular in summer; SE is a thermal that builds in the afternoon.
Outside these two windows, the spot is either dangerous (offshore wind) or unrideable due to significant shorebreak or currents. West and north-west winds are offshore and make riding impossible.
The south-southeast thermal wind typically sets up in early afternoon and can blow until evening. In summer it is almost daily.
