Pirita is Tallinn's most accessible kitesurfing spot, located in the seaside district of the same name, just a few kilometres from the city centre. Pirita Beach is the largest sandy beach in the Estonian capital.
The spot sits in Tallinn Bay, facing north. North-west to north winds are most favourable, blowing onshore to side-onshore. The bottom is sandy and the water relatively shallow near the shore.
Pirita is a convenient urban spot, well served by public transport. The Olympic Sailing Centre (built for the 1980 Olympics) is nearby. The main season runs from May to October. It is suited for intermediate riders.
