Overview

Saunton Sands is a huge sandy beach stretching over 5 km in North Devon, facing the Atlantic. It is one of the largest beach spaces in southwest England, offering ample room for kitesurfing. The beach faces west-northwest and perfectly receives the prevailing southwest winds. The Braunton Burrows dunes in the background provide a spectacular landscape.

Large paid car park at the beachfront. Direct access to the sand. Less crowded than Cornish spots.
Hazards
Rip currents in large swells. Very long beach — do not venture too far from your launch point. Powerful waves in westerly swell.
