Overview

Portland Harbour is a vast sheltered body of water on the Dorset coast, protected by the Portland peninsula. The harbour offers exceptional flat water conditions in southwest winds, making it a very popular spot for kitesurfing and windsurfing. The site hosted the sailing events of the 2012 Olympic Games, a testament to the quality of its wind conditions.

Hazards
Strong currents around Portland Bill. Stay within the harbour and do not venture beyond the breakwater. Commercial and military maritime traffic (naval base).
