Overview

Brancaster is one of the best kite spots in Norfolk, on the north coast facing the North Sea. The immense sandy beach is exposed at low tide offering miles of flat water in the lagoons. A very popular spot in the English kite community, with reliable conditions in north to northwest wind. The natural setting (AONB) is exceptional.

Parking
Paid National Trust car park at Brancaster Beach. Busy on windy days. Arriving early is recommended.
Wind specificities
The dominant north to northwest winds blow onshore. The summer thermal wind can strengthen the breeze in the afternoon. With south wind (offshore), the water body is very flat behind the dunes but be careful with the return.
Hazards
The tide rises very quickly on this flat foreshore — risk of being cut off by the tide. Currents in the channels. Shifting sandbanks. Checking tide times is absolutely essential.
