Overview

Oostende is the main city and kitesurf spot on the Belgian coast (West Flanders). The wide sandy beach west of the city and port offers good riding conditions with SW/WSW/W/WNW/NW onshore winds. Oostende has a large harbour — stay well away from the port entrance and shipping lanes.

Offshore wind (E/SE) forbidden on the entire Belgian coast. Large tidal range. The beach is wide at low tide. Busy urban beach in summer — respect designated kite zones and swimmer areas. Good transport links make this accessible year-round.
