West Inlet is a kitesurf spot located on the northwest coast of Tasmania, near Stanley. This inlet offers flat water conditions sheltered from the Bass Strait swell, ideal for learning and freestyle. The prevailing wind comes from the west to northwest in summer. The inlet offers flat and shallow water, well protected from waves. Conditions change with the tides. The best season is from November to March. The spot is suited to beginners thanks to the sheltered conditions. The water is cold, a thick wetsuit is necessary.
