West Beach is a kitesurf spot located on the northwest coast of Tasmania, near Stanley. This beach is exposed to the prevailing westerly winds and offers sailing conditions in the Bass Strait. The prevailing wind comes from the west to northwest in summer. Waves are moderate to strong depending on the swell. The bottom is sandy. The beach offers good space for kitesurfing. The best season is from November to March. The spot is suited to intermediate riders. The water is cold, a thick wetsuit is necessary. Stanley is a tourist village with accommodation and amenities. The Nut, the iconic volcanic neck, dominates the landscape.
