Trial Harbour is a kitesurf spot located on the west coast of Tasmania, one of Australia's wildest and most exposed coasts. This small isolated harbour is battered by Southern Ocean storms and offers extreme conditions for the most experienced riders. The prevailing wind comes from the southwest to west, blowing with considerable force on this coast fully exposed to the Roaring Forties. The Southern Ocean waves are powerful and unpredictable. The bottom is a mix of sand and reef. The spot is reserved for expert riders only. Isolation is total, with an unsealed access road and no rescue services. The water is very cold (12-16°C). A 5/4 wetsuit is recommended. This is one of Tasmania's most extreme spots.
