Thunder Reef is a kitesurf spot located on the northwest coast of Tasmania. This reef spot offers powerful wave conditions, as its name suggests. It is a demanding spot reserved for experienced riders. The prevailing wind comes from the southwest to west in summer. The reef creates well-shaped and powerful waves. The bottom is rocky (reef), requiring excellent knowledge of the spot. Currents are strong. The spot is reserved for expert riders. The water is cold, 4/3 wetsuit minimum. High risk of injury in case of a fall on the reef. Riding with a buddy is mandatory. Remote spot with no rescue services.
