Long Reef is one of Sydney's most popular kitesurf spots, located on the northern beaches between Collaroy and Dee Why, in New South Wales. This iconic spot offers varied conditions thanks to its reefs, which create great ramps for jumping and surfable waves in both main wind directions. The spot works in northeast winds (summer sea breeze) and southeast to south winds (winter Southerly Buster). The Long Reef reefs produce quality waves that attract kitesurfers from all over Sydney. Watch out for the reef that surfaces at low tide just in front of the car park. The neighbouring spots of Butter Box and Little Makaha offer alternatives depending on conditions. The launch area is on the main beach. Walking on the lawns near the golf course is prohibited as it is a landing zone for hang gliders. Parking is accessible and free. Long Reef is a must-visit spot on the Sydney kitesurf scene, with an active community of local riders.
