Lee Point is a major kitesurfing spot located in Darwin, Northern Territory. It is the most popular kitesurfing spot in Darwin, situated on the northern tip of Casuarina Beach. The spot offers excellent conditions thanks to its exposed position that catches the southeast trade winds well during the dry season. The prevailing wind follows the monsoon pattern: reliable and consistent southeast trade winds during the dry season (May to October), regularly blowing between 15 and 25 knots. Tides in Darwin are among the largest in Australia (up to 8 m), creating very different conditions between high and low tide. At low tide, vast tidal flats are exposed. The best season is the dry season (May to October). The water is warm year-round (26-30°C), no wetsuit needed. IMPORTANT WARNING: risk of saltwater crocodiles (salties) and deadly box jellyfish during the wet season. Always check with locals about current safety conditions. Stinger nets are not installed on this beach. The spot is suitable for intermediate and advanced riders. Darwin's kitesurfing community is active and welcoming. Parking available. This is the must-ride spot of Australia's Top End.
