Lake Alexandrina - Milang

Lake Alexandrina - Milang

Overview

Lake Alexandrina at Milang is a freshwater kitesurfing spot located in South Australia, about 75 km southeast of Adelaide. Lake Alexandrina is the largest freshwater lake in South Australia, fed by the Murray River. Milang is a small historic village on the west shore of the lake. The prevailing wind comes from the southwest in summer, blowing across the considerable fetch of the lake and creating a small chop. The water is flat to slightly choppy, offering excellent conditions for freestyle and learning. The lake is shallow in many areas. The best season is from November to March with thermal breezes. The spot is perfectly suited for beginners and intermediate riders. Milang has a boat ramp and a small harbour. The village offers some basic amenities. It is an excellent alternative spot when ocean conditions are too strong.
