The prevailing wind comes from the southwest to west in summer. The waves are strong with Southern Ocean swell. The bottom is sandy. The beach is long and uncrowded. The best season is from November to March. The spot is suitable for advanced riders due to the waves and relative remoteness. The water is cold, a thick wetsuit is required. Killarney is a small village with basic amenities.
