Spot de Kangaroo Island - Snelling Beach

Kangaroo Island - Snelling Beach

Kangaroo Island - Snelling Beach

Overview

Snelling Beach is a kitesurfing spot located on the north coast of Kangaroo Island in South Australia. Kangaroo Island is the third largest island in Australia, renowned for its wildlife and spectacular landscapes. Snelling Beach is a sheltered bay on the north coast, protected from the powerful Southern Ocean swell. The prevailing wind comes from the southwest to west, but the north coast benefits from exposure to northwest and north winds. The bay offers relatively calm conditions compared to the exposed south coast. The water is clear and the white sandy beach is surrounded by cliffs. The spot is remote and suitable for self-sufficient advanced riders. There are no rescue services nearby. Marine wildlife is abundant, including seals and occasionally sharks. Access requires a ferry from the mainland or a flight. The best season is summer (November to March).
