Spot de Goolwa

Goolwa

Goolwa

Overview

Goolwa is a major kitesurfing spot located at the mouth of the Murray River in South Australia, about 80 km south of Adelaide. It is one of the most popular and versatile spots in the region, offering both flat water conditions on the river and waves on the ocean beach. The prevailing wind comes from the southwest in summer (thermal sea breeze), blowing very consistently and powerfully in the afternoon, often between 18 and 30 knots. The river spot offers flat and shallow water, ideal for beginners and freestyle. The ocean beach offers waves for more experienced riders. The best season is from November to March, with the most reliable thermal breezes in South Australia. Goolwa is a historic Australian kitesurfing spot with an active community and kite schools. The nearby Coorong National Park offers spectacular lagoon and dune landscapes. Parking is available along the river and near the beach. Amenities, restaurants and accommodation are available in the town of Goolwa. Beware of strong currents at the mouth of the Murray.
