Coronation Beach is a legendary kitesurf spot located near Geraldton, in Western Australia. It is one of Australia's most famous kitesurf spots, renowned for its perfect waves and powerful, consistent winds. The spot has hosted numerous international kitesurf competitions and attracts riders from around the world. The prevailing south to southwest winds blow sideshore on this west-facing beach, creating ideal conditions for wave riding. Geraldton is one of the windiest cities in Australia, with thermal south breezes reaching 25-35 knots in summer. The waves are consistent and of high quality, forming perfect lines for kite wave riding. The main season runs from October to April. Coronation Beach is located about 20 minutes north of Geraldton. Parking is beachfront. A basic campground is available on site. Watch out for rocks, sea urchins and currents. The spot can be dangerous in very strong wind. It is a must-visit spot for any kitesurfer visiting Western Australia.
