Bells Beach is a world-famous kitesurf and surf spot located near Torquay in Victoria. It is the site of the Rip Curl Pro, one of the oldest surf competitions in the world. Waves are powerful and consistent, fed by Southern Ocean swell. The bottom is a mix of sand and reef. Currents are strong along the cliffs. The spot is reserved for expert riders due to the wave power, reef and currents. Kitesurfing is often banned or restricted due to the number of surfers. Check local regulations before riding. The water is cold, 4/3 wetsuit minimum.
