Augusta Rivermouth is a kitesurf spot located at the mouth of the Blackwood River, in Augusta, at the southwestern tip of Western Australia. This spot offers varied conditions between the sheltered estuary and the exposed ocean. Augusta sits at the meeting point of the Indian Ocean and the Southern Ocean, offering a spectacular setting. The prevailing south to southwest winds (the famous "Fremantle Doctor" which extends to this region) blow regularly in summer. The estuary offers flat water for beginners, while the river mouth and ocean coast present more demanding conditions with waves and currents. Augusta is a small town with basic services. Parking is available near the river mouth. Watch out for strong currents at the river mouth and rocks. The area is also known for whale watching in season (June-September).
