Lobitos is a legendary kitesurf and surf spot located in the Piura region of northern Peru. This fishing village is home to one of the most beautiful waves in the world for kite-wave riding, a long, powerful and consistent left-hander. The wind blows side-offshore, reaching up to 30 knots in the afternoon. The windy season runs from March to December, with the strongest winds during the austral winter. The south/south-east wind perfectly shapes the wave. The spot is reserved for expert riders due to the powerful waves, side-offshore wind and rocky bottom in places. When the main wave is firing, Lobitos is considered one of the best kite-wave spots in the world.
