Huanchaco is a historic coastal town in the La Libertad region of Peru, famous for its caballitos de totora, the traditional reed boats that have been used for millennia. The south to south-east wind blows in the afternoon between 12 and 20 knots from May to December. The beach is long and sandy, with moderate waves. The spot is suitable for intermediate riders. The town offers good tourist infrastructure. Watch out for swimming areas and surfers.
