San Bernardino is Paraguay's main kitesurfing spot, located on Lake Ypacaraí, about 30 km east of Asunción. This shallow natural lake (3 m max depth) covering 60 km² offers flat water conditions for kitesurfing.

The lake is kiteable with northerly or southerly winds, with kitesurfers using the western shore at Yacht Club Ypacaraí. The best period is September to March when thermal winds are more regular. Water is fresh but quality can vary.

The spot suits intermediate riders. San Bernardino is a popular beach resort among Paraguayans, with hotels, restaurants, and summer nightlife.
