Santa Marianita is the most renowned kitesurfing spot in Ecuador, located about 20 km south of Manta in the Manabí province. This long 4 km sandy beach offers immense space for riding, launching and landing kites. The thermal wind blows consistently from May to December, generally between 15 and 25 knots, with a southwest to west orientation (side-onshore). The wind picks up around 11am and remains stable until 4pm thanks to the powerful thermal effect created by the contrast between warm inland air and the cool Pacific water. The water is flat to slightly choppy, ideal for learning and progressing. Water temperature ranges between 21 and 24°C during the season. Several kitesurfing schools are based on site, making Santa Marianita an ideal destination for beginners and experienced riders alike.
