Kitesurf spot at Isle-aux-Coudres, a legendary island in the St. Lawrence River in Charlevoix. The island offers several launch zones with varied conditions depending on tides and winds. The immense tidal flats exposed at low tide create a unique playground. The setting is spectacular with the Charlevoix mountains as a backdrop. Tidal currents around the island are among the strongest on the St. Lawrence — spot reserved for experienced riders who know the tide schedules.

Advanced
St. Lawrence estuary with significant tides (4-5m tidal range). Immense sandy tidal flats at low tide. Very strong tidal currents around the island, up to 5-6 knots. Brackish and cold water (10-15°C in summer), 4/3 wetsuit required. The water changes dramatically between high tide (water riding) and low tide (landkite possible on tidal flats).
Extremely strong tidal currents — major danger. Check tide tables before every session. Risk of being swept away by the current far from the island. Cold water with hypothermia risk. Commercial shipping on the St. Lawrence channel. Submerged rocks and obstacles. Isolated area — bring communication device.
