Kitesurf spot at Sainte-Luce-sur-Mer beach, near Rimouski, on the south shore of the St. Lawrence estuary. This iconic Lower St. Lawrence beach is lined with a wooden boardwalk and colourful cottages. The spot faces north with sweeping views of the vast estuary. The water is decidedly salty at this point of the river. Sunsets are spectacular. Sainte-Luce is a popular resort area with all services nearby.

Maritime St. Lawrence estuary. 3-4m tides. Cold salt water (8-13°C in summer), 4/3 or 5/3 wetsuit required. Enormous fetch northward (30+ km across the estuary). Chop to waves in sustained NE wind. Sand and pebble bottom. Wide beach facilitating launch.
Cold water with hypothermia risk. Tidal currents. The estuary is immense — do not venture far from shore. Rocks and pebbles on some beach sections. Commercial shipping offshore. Frequent fog. Waves possible in sustained NE wind.
