Rotary Beach is Kelowna's most popular kitesurf spot, on the west shore of Okanagan Lake. The lake runs north-south in a valley, creating a funnelling effect that channels the wind. The thermal southerly wind ("lake breeze") develops in the afternoon during summer. Urban spot with parking, lawn and facilities. Magnificent views of vineyards and mountains.

Fresh water. Flat to choppy water depending on wind strength. The lake is about 4 km wide here, providing decent fetch. Sand and pebble bottom. Progressive depth. Relatively warm water in summer (18-22°C) — one of BC's warmest lakes.
Heavy boat traffic in summer (motorboats, jet-skis, paddleboards). Swimming zone to respect. Wind can drop suddenly in late afternoon. Watch for cruise boats on the lake. The lake is deep (up to 232m) and water stays cold at depth.
