Willow Island is a spot on the west shore of Lake Winnipeg, near Gimli. Willow Island offers a partially protected sailing area with conditions suited for intermediate levels.
The island creates a partially sheltered water body while still receiving east winds with the large Lake Winnipeg fetch. Calmer area than the open beaches. Popular with local Interlake kitesurfers. Season from June to October.

Fresh water. Temperature of 18-22°C. Sandy to muddy bottom. The island offers partial protection — reduced chop compared to open water. Good progression conditions. Shallow south basin.
Currents around the island. Large lake behind — don't venture into open water. Prairie thunderstorms. Blue-green algae. Fishing boats.
