Stevens Island / Sunset Bowl is a spot on the east shore of Lake Winnipeg, near Grand Marais. The "Sunset Bowl" refers to the bowl-shaped water body partially protected by Stevens Island, a small offshore island.
This spot is more exposed than Grand Beach and offers committed conditions with south to southwest winds. Stevens Island provides partial protection but the fetch remains considerable. Spot favored by advanced riders in the Manitoba community. Season from June to October.

Fresh water from Lake Winnipeg. Temperature of 18-22°C in summer. Sandy bottom. Formed waves from the lake's large fetch. Stevens Island creates a partially protected zone but chop remains sustained. Demanding conditions in strong winds.
Immense lake with possible near-ocean conditions. 1-2 m waves. Shore currents. Violent prairie thunderstorms. Stevens Island can create currents and turbulence. Cold water in June and September. Blue-green algae frequent.
