Walter Drive is a dual-season spot on Lake Simcoe in Keswick. In summer, the spot faces north toward the lake for kitesurfing and wingfoil. In winter, the lake freezes and becomes an exceptional snowkite terrain. It's Lake Simcoe's ultimate versatile spot, usable 9 months per year. Just 1h from Toronto, it's the most accessible lake for GTA riders.
Open all year round
Intermediate
Summer: Lake Simcoe fresh water. Flat to choppy. Sandy bottom. Good fetch from the north (30 km). Warm water in summer (20-24°C — the shallow lake warms well). Winter: frozen ice and snow surface for snowkiting, all wind directions.
Summer: heavy boat traffic (boats, jet-skis). Swimming zone. Winter: check ice thickness (min 15 cm). Ice fishing holes. Extreme cold. Snowmobiles. The freeze/thaw transition (November, March) is dangerous — do not ride.
