Frenchman's Bay is a sheltered bay in Pickering, east of Toronto. The spot is outside the bay, on the south-facing beach of Lake Ontario. The bay itself is too sheltered for kiting, but the outer beach offers good south fetch.
Access from Alex Robertson Park. Parking available. The inner bay can serve as an emergency zone. Popular with kiters from east Toronto.
Open all year round
Intermediate
Lake water facing south. Freshwater, moderate chop in south winds. Sandy bottom, gradual depth. The inner bay offers flat, sheltered water if needed.
Boat traffic at the bay entrance. Possible currents near the channel. Marked swimming area in summer. Do not ride in the inner bay — too confined and nautical traffic.
