La Pointe David is a spot in the Upper Laurentians, at 218 meters altitude. This spot is on the Baskatong Reservoir, a huge artificial lake over 40 km long, created by the Mercier Dam on the Gatineau River.
Baskatong Reservoir offers impressive dimensions with fetch exceeding 10 km in several directions. La Pointe David is a land promontory that allows sailing with many wind orientations. Wild and isolated spot, accessible by logging roads. Season from June to September.
Cold to cool fresh water (16-21°C in summer). Sandy to rocky bottom. The reservoir is vast and can develop significant waves in strong winds. Water level varies with dam management — check before heading out. Wild boreal forest landscape.

Very isolated spot — no rescue services nearby. Cold water requiring a thick wetsuit. Water level variations due to the dam — submerged stumps and rocks. Violent thunderstorms frequent in forested areas. Unpaved access roads (logging roads). Black bears in the area.
