On the water

Exposed ocean spot with waves of 0.5 to 2.5m depending on swell. Water is cold (10-14°C/50-57°F), a 4/3 wetsuit is essential year-round. Sandy and rocky bottom. Significant tidal currents and drift currents. North Pacific swells arrive with little obstruction. Frequent kelp offshore.

Hazards

Great white sharks present — area within the Red Triangle. Very cold water — hypothermia without full wetsuit. Strong and unpredictable currents. Submerged rocks and reefs. Frequent and sudden fog. Powerful shore break. Dense kelp. Relatively isolated environment. Weather conditions changing rapidly.
