Altitude 2,285m — altitude sickness, hypothermia from severe wind chill. Unstable ice in some areas, especially near inflows and the dam. Sudden blizzards with zero visibility. Temperature can drop below -25°C. Isolation — far from help on the frozen surface. Intense UV reflected by snow.
Vast frozen surface in winter with excellent snowkite conditions. Wind-sculpted snowdrifts alternating with bare ice. Check ice thickness — variable by area and season. Powder snow early winter, crusty late season.
