Overview

We kited from the Specialised Kiteboarding Center at Pointe Jerome (Preskil Hotel). The spot is located on the southeast coast of Mauritius near Mahébourg. The lagoon is the largest on the island and offers perfect conditions for beginners and advanced riders. For professional riders, the kite center can take you to the reef for wave riding. The lagoon is ideal for all foiling; wingfoil, kitefoil, pumping, ... You just need to follow the team's instructions to navigate past the corals between the center and the immense lagoon. You can take lessons and rent all kitesurf, kitefoil, wingfoil and pumping equipment at the center. If the wind isn't cooperating, the kite center also offers wakeboard and wakefoil lessons. The place is beautiful with useful amenities: bar-restaurants, toilets, shower and equipment rinsing facilities.

You can have lessons and rent all kitesurf, kitefoil, wingfoil and pumping equipment in the center. If the wind is not on, the kite center offers also wakeboarding and wakefoil lessons. The spot is amazing with useful amenities: bar-restaurants, toilets, shower and equipment washing area.

Hazards

For foil enthusiasts primarily, be careful of corals when accessing the immense lagoon. Follow the kite center's instructions.

Wind specificities

Mauritius normally offers very reliable wind conditions from June to October. This period is known for its favorable wind blowing between 15 and 25 knots. But with foil equipment, you can extend this period; I was very lucky during my last trip during Easter holidays. Don't forget that during July-August it's winter there! The prevailing wind is from the SE.
