Kluane Lake is a kitesurfing spot located in southwestern Yukon, in the heart of a spectacular wild landscape between mountains and glaciers. It is the largest lake entirely within the Yukon, stretching 81 kilometers long and covering approximately 408 km². The setting is absolutely grandiose, with the snow-capped peaks of Kluane National Park as a backdrop.
The lake benefits from katabatic thermal winds descending from the surrounding glaciers and mountains, creating consistent wind conditions, mainly from the west and northwest. These winds can be powerful and changeable, requiring solid experience. The water is very cold year-round (dry suit recommended).
The sailing season is very short, from June to August only. This spot is reserved for advanced riders due to the isolation, glacial water, and sometimes unpredictable winds. You need to be self-sufficient and well-prepared. It is a unique kitesurfing adventure in a breathtaking Canadian wilderness setting.
