Overview

This spot is on the Ob River in Salekhard, capital of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, in northern Western Siberia. Salekhard is the only city in the world located exactly on the Arctic Circle.

The Ob River is very wide at this point, offering a vast freshwater body. Banks are sandy in summer. The spot is only usable during the short summer season when the river is ice-free.

Season is extremely short, late June to early September. Water is cold (10-18°C). Winds are often from north and west. Arctic conditions, thick wetsuit mandatory. Spot reserved for experienced and self-sufficient riders.
