La Cormorandière is a spot on the east coast of Havre-aux-Maisons island, in the heart of the Magdalen Islands archipelago. This area offers access to the Gulf of St. Lawrence with an eastern exposure to enjoy east and northeast winds. The sand beach provides easy launching. The spot is named after the cormorants that nest in the area, reflecting the ecological richness of the location.
Open water on the east side of the Gulf. Chop to waves depending on east wind strength. Sandy bottom with progressive depth. Water is cold (12-16°C in summer), 4/3 wetsuit minimum. The typical red sandstone cliffs of the Magdalen Islands border some sections of the coast.
