Gems Beach is a kitesurf spot located on the south shore of Lake Erie, near Lakeside-Marblehead in Ohio. This beach offers good lake access with varied winds depending on weather conditions. Lake Erie, being the shallowest of the Great Lakes, quickly generates waves in strong winds, creating dynamic conditions for kitesurfing and wingfoiling. Main season from May to October.
Lake Erie produces significant waves in strong north or northeast winds, reaching 1 to 2 meters. In south winds, conditions stay flatter near shore. The freshwater warms relatively quickly in summer due to the lake's shallow depth. Wetsuit recommended except in midsummer.
