Arroyo de la Laguna is a kitesurfing spot located on the wild Big Sur coast in San Luis Obispo County, California. This extremely isolated spot offers a spectacular natural setting on one of the wildest coastlines in the United States. Northwest winds are powerful and ocean conditions are brutal. This spot is reserved exclusively for experts due to total isolation, cold water, and absence of rescue services.
Very exposed ocean spot with frequent waves of 1 to 3m. Water is cold (10-15°C/50-59°F), a 4/3 or 5/3 wetsuit is essential. Rocky and sandy bottom with reefs. Strong and unpredictable currents along the rugged coast. North Pacific swells hit the coast unobstructed. Abundant kelp.
