Dornumersiel is the "secret spot" of the East Frisian coast — a picturesque fishing village with the largest kitesurf area on the North Sea (80 ha), uncrowded despite exceptional conditions. Stunning views of the dune-lined East Frisian islands offshore. Standing-depth water as far as the eye can see, sandy bottom, constant wind. Ideal spot for beginners (safe standing area, school on site) as well as experienced riders (large zone, quality flat water). Natural and quiet atmosphere, far from the crowds of Schillig or Norddeich. Camping and mobile homes directly on site. Modern sanitary facilities (Das Barke).

Access only from the Strandbad Dornumersiel. Do not access from the port or the coast (prohibited, Schutzzone 1). Parking 200m from the water's edge. Mandatory registration at the Vertigo station before going on the water. Kite 3h before to 3h after HW (NordSBefV). Open May to mid-September.
Kite authorized from May 1 to September 15, 3h before to 3h after HW (NordSBefV). 80 ha zone marked by buoys. Mandatory registration at the Vertigo surf school.
Beginner
W/WNW/NW and NE/ENE/E: best directions (sideshore depending on coast orientation). Constant and regular wind thanks to direct North Sea exposure. Flat water in the standing area at rising tide. N and ESE to SSW: too onshore/offshore depending on orientation.
Kite authorized only in the marked zone (80 ha) accessible from the Strandbad — prohibited to access from the port or the coast (Schutzzone 1 / Ruhezone of the Nationalpark). 3h before to 3h after HW (NordSBefV). Registration at the surf school mandatory — kite license level 3 minimum. Vertigo is the sole official concessionaire of the zone. Water police controls. Outside the zone = criminal offense.
